Creating Connection, Through Story and Creative Writing

  • Workshop

The project offers creative writing workshops which help participants create connection and a sense of belonging through shared story and creative writing.  Workshops combine the essential practices and methodologies that support the belief that our health and wellbeing is embedded in our connection to our community and our sense of belonging.
Writing has the power to change lives and cost is a barrier for many community groups and for individuals. Participants connect with each other through their shared writing, growing in self-awareness and awareness of others. As individual writers witness their stories being validated and as they receive affirming feedback from the other writers in the group, they grow in self-belief and confidence. Another outcome of the workshops is intergenerational learning as writers share their experiences and their stories with friends, family members and their wider communities.
The project will offer participants from diverse backgrounds, in marginalised communities, the opportunity to access and participate in creative activities in their local community centre.
