Killeigh Told Through Visual Stories

  • Workshop

Visual Stories of Killeigh is a Creative Ireland project launching in April 2026 in Killeigh, Co. Offaly, celebrating the village’s rich heritage, folklore, and the lived experiences of its people. Facilitated by Visual Artist Teresa Doyle, and developed in partnership with the Killeigh Community Centre Development Committee, this collaborative project will invite community members to explore the village’s identity—spanning music, sport, seasonal traditions, religious gatherings, and agricultural practices—and transform them into a series of small-scale, three-dimensional artworks that capture the unique cultural identity of Killeigh.Through a series of inclusive weekly workshops held at Killeigh Community Centre, commencing on April 14th, participants will experiment with a range of creative techniques, including textiles, light woodwork, collage, and mixed media. With a focus on process, conversation, and shared learning, this project will create an inclusive environment for participants of all backgrounds to share their experiences, strengthen their connection to the community, and feel a lasting sense of pride and belonging.

The project will culminate in a public exhibition during National Heritage Week, offering an opportunity to celebrate the artworks and stories with the wider community.
