Stages We Share

  • Workshop

This project will deliver a minimum of four creative speech, drama, and performance sessions for residents in a nursing home setting. It aims to support wellbeing, creative expression, cultural participation, and social connection through accessible, person‑centred arts engagement for older adults.

Rooted in a belief in the right of older people to remain creatively active, heard, and culturally connected, the project uses voice, story, and performance to foster recognition, dignity, and connection. Drawing on the artist’s experience of gentle creative engagement, the sessions will offer moments of joy, memory, and shared humanity, including for residents who engage quietly or non‑verbally.

Each session will blend light, adaptable participatory activities—such as storytelling, poetry, memory sharing, and simple drama or imaginative play—with live performance elements. This ensures residents can choose to participate actively or engage as audience members, based on their comfort and energy levels. Performance material may include dramatic monologues, duologues, spoken word, and poetry.

The project also explores the inclusion of a sean‑nós dancer and gentle use of Irish language through movement, song, or storytelling, supporting cultural heritage and continuity. All sessions prioritise inclusivity, equality, and responsiveness to residents’ needs, using a imagination, voice, memory, and movement as sustainable creative tools
