June 9th is the Feast of St. Columcille (St. Columba), one of Ireland’s three patron saints. June 6th falls right into the “novena” or lead-up to his big day. He is the patron saint of bookbinders, poets, and writers.

– Activity: Children will create their own “illuminations”, as well as writing their name, using gold markers, vibrant inks, and Celtic knot work templates, including, of course… monsters.
– Main theme: We’ll discuss Columcille’s love for books, his role in the Loch Ness Monster’s legend and open a discussion on the importance of books in their life.
– Focus: Art, history, and calligraphy.
– Age Group: 10 to 14 years old
– Theme: St. Columcille (The Scribe)
– Duration: 60 Minutes
