Teddy Bear Takeover

  • Workshop

Teddy Bear Creativity Stations at St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny celebrates Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 through a series of pop‑up art‑making sessions taking place throughout May, these informal creativity stations invite children and young people attending the hospital to make art inspired by the much‑loved teddy bears at the Children’s Wards. The activities are designed to encourage imagination, self‑expression and wellbeing in a welcoming healthcare setting.

The project culminates in a Cruinniú na nÓg exhibition on 6 June 2026 in the Na nÓg Gailearaí, showcasing artworks created by young participants.

There is no sign up, as the workshops will be specifically for patients attending their regular hospital appointments and stayovers.

All arts and crafts materials will be provided, and a supply of free teddy bears will be available on the wards for children who would like inspiration, forget to bring their own bear, or are staying in hospital. Children can also take part without a physical teddy bear by drawing their own bear or imagining a teddy bear habitat creativity and imagination are encouraged in every form.
