ISL users of all levels are welcome to join Athy Sing & Sign at Athy Youth Café to enjoy an Irish Sign Language performance and choreography workshop for 8-18 year olds with Ali Clarke and di. ISL Interpreters will be present also for the community.
13-18 years old participants are welcome also to join in the second half of the programme: First Steps to Filmmaking workshop for teenagers, led by Deaf Film and TV professionals. The event will introduce industry roles, creative pathways, and training opportunities, offering practical insights and inspiration for young people interested in Film and TV careers.
Participants can work with producer Sean Herlihy and filmmaker Darwin Zapata, and will also have special guests including LUMO TV director Cathy Heffernan and Deaf actors who can share their own career experiences.
At a future date there will be a small screening so everyone can see the final films created on the day. The workshop is open to Athy Sing and Sign members, teenagers in Athy, Kildare and surrounding areas, and also to WAVE, the new youth club in Deaf Village Ireland for Deaf, hard of hearing and CODA young people.
Workshop will be fully accessible in ISL.
