Ryan Keogh

I am an actor, writer and director from Waterford. I am a member of Waterford Youth Arts and Youth Theatre Ireland’s Soundboard. I am very interested in performance and putting on my own plays. I first got involved in drama in 2023 after going to see one of my friends perform in a production of the play Is This Good Enough by Avaes Mohammed. When I am being creative I feel free to express myself in a way you don’t often get to do in other parts of your life, like school. My creative hero is the Welsh actor Michael Sheen because he puts so much effort into each of his roles and donates all the money he makes from acting to charity. By doing this, he puts the art before the fame of being an actor, which I feel is very commendable.

The best thing about Cruinniú na nÓg is that it’s great to have a day focused on not just Creativity but more specifically, creativity for young people. Often times art made by young people is viewed as “lesser” and underestimated, but I think having this day focused on it allows society to see it as being just as important as art made by older people.

To me, creativity is what makes us human.
