3 Years of War, 3 Strands to our Red Necklaces

  • Workshop

In two workshops in the lead up (24th & 31st May) and one workshop on Cruinniú na nÓg, two groups of children from the Ukrainian School will create multistranded necklaces, like the ones traditionally worn by Ukrainian women.

The participants’ mothers and grandmothers will be invited to show their own necklaces and talk about the tradition. The necklaces will have three strands, to symbolise the three years that the war has raged, and displaced the children from home, community and family.

Participants who do not wish to make necklaces can make keyrings. If there is time, participants will also learn how to make some traditional floral headdresses.

Choose from 10.30-11am or 11-11.30am. Booking is required as spaces are limited.
