Friends of Inishmurray will bring three creative artists to the protected island of Inishmurray for a dedicated day of creative exploration. Working through photography, prose, etching, and sound recording, the artists will respond to the island’s landscape, atmosphere, and cultural memory, capturing fleeting moments and impressions of this remarkable place.
Inishmurray is a rare and special island off the Sligo coast—uninhabited, protected, and deeply evocative. Its ancient monastic remains, stone enclosures, and open Atlantic setting create a powerful sense of stillness and continuity. With no modern development, the island allows nature, history, and silence to take centre stage, offering visitors a profound experience of place shaped by light, weather, and the sea.
The creative works produced during the visit will form part of a seminar planned for November and will also be shared through Friends of Inishmurray’s website and social media platforms, helping to communicate the island’s unique spirit to a wider audience.
