Catching the Sun – Cyanograph Prints

  • Workshop

Westside Youth Project will facilitate a number of cyanography workshops. The workshops are for different age groups of young people 10-18 years of age. We will use two methods of photographic printing technique. A cyanotype image is made by applying ultraviolet sensitive chemicals to paper. This is exposed to sunlight to develop and then washed in cold water to fix the image. One method uses the photo-less method and one with a photographic image.

Young people will be invited to scheduled workshops at the Westside Youth Project in the lead-up to Cruinniú na nÓg. There will be a maximum of 4 different groups that will participate. During the workshops, young people will have the opportunity to create their own cyanograph print(s) to take away. The pieces produced will be displayed for a short period, recorded and will be taken home by young people.

This project will conclude with an exhibition and drop-in workshop in Fr. Burke Park, where attendees at the festival will get a chance to see the work and try their hand at the technique.
