Eco Creative

  • Workshop

Building on the success of Beachcombers Creative (2024), this year’s Eco Creative workshop invites children to explore nature and creativity in a hands-on, immersive experience. In partnership with Books at One and CALL Climate Action Louisburgh Locality, the workshop begins with a biodiversity walk in the Louisburgh area, where participants will observe the movement of trees, flowing rivers, and the interconnectedness of the natural world.

Following this, children will take part in a creative making session at Books at One, led by artist Jennifer Hickey. Inspired by nature’s weaves and tangles, they will work with natural fibres and organic materials to craft unique woven artworks, which will be exhibited in the community bookshop.

The workshop also introduces participants to Irish contemporary craft, highlighting artists such as Joe Hogan, who creates woven works using locally grown willow and Alan Meredith, who transforms fallen trees into sculptural vessels. Through artistic exploration, children will engage with themes of biodiversity, sustainability and creative expression.

A chance to connect with nature, discover new artistic techniques and create one-of-a-kind artworks!
