Exciting Free Dance Workshop at Youghal Library

  • Workshop

Cork County Council is happy to share some fun news for kids aged 9 to 12! As part of the Cruinniú na nÓg celebrations, there will be a free art and dance workshop happening on Saturday, June 7th at Youghal Library.

At the start of the workshop, everyone will join in a fun and energetic warm-up to get their whole body moving and ready for action. Then, the group will learn some simple ballet and contemporary dance steps. After that, the children will get to use their imaginations to move in their own special way, using ideas and stories to help guide them. They’ll even explore different levels of movement—low, medium, and high—just like the famous movement expert Rudolf Laban described!

To finish up, everyone will do some gentle stretches to cool down and feel great.

This wonderful workshop was inspired by a creative idea from a 6th class student at Castlemartyr National School, as part of the My Creative Wish project. This project gives children across Cork a chance to help plan fun events for Cruinniú na nÓg—our special day to celebrate creativity for kids and young people all over Ireland.

Spaces are limited, so anyone who wants to join should ask a parent or guardian to email youghal.library@corkcoco.ie to save a spot.

Let’s get moving, get creative, and have fun!
