Exquisite Corpses at WGOA

Workshop

Young artists from Waterford Youth Arts, Youth Reach and Little Red Kettle will be designing new, big, bold and beautiful (and maybe even a little scary) large-scale window designs for Waterford Gallery of Art (WGOA) to be displayed for the duration of Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. Working with the team in the gallery and back in their own venues, the groups will learn all about ‘Exquisite Corpses’ – a game pioneered by surrealists artist in the 1920s in which each participant takes turns writing or drawing on a sheet of paper, folding it to conceal his or her contribution, and then passing it to the next player for a further contribution. These fantastical creations will then be translated into larger, window sized artworks by the groups to feature in the galleries O’Connell Street Windows, with a launch event on 6th June.
