Sonya – Age 17
I am a creative person driven by the desire to make a positive impact on the world. My earliest memory of creativity was my first piano performance at age 11. I remember the feeling of excitement and nervousness as I sat down at the piano, my heart pounding with anticipation. As I began to play, I was overcome with a sense of elation, realising the power of music to evoke emotion.
When I’m being creative, I feel a sense of lightness and joy. It’s an incredible feeling to be able to evoke emotions and connect with others through my art. My creative hero is La Orquesta Kalamares, a music band based in Galway, Ireland. They specialize in Latino pop music and covers, creating vibrant and energetic rhythms that inspire me to dance salsa and bachata.
I feel that Cruinniú na nÓg promotes a culture of creativity and innovation, nurturing the next generation of artists, musicians, writers, performers, and enriching the culture of Ireland.
