Join us for the presentation of ‘Giant Dreams’ in Baltinglass.
Step into a world of adventure and folklore as 150 young creators bring the story of Dagda (the local legendary king!) to life in a spectacular performance at Tearmann Community Gardens in Baltinglass. The children will embark on an exciting quest to find Dagda’s lost magic harp, with vibrant drumming, singing, storytelling, and the appearance of a giant puppet, bringing the legend to life! Expect plenty of audience participation as the search unfolds, leading to a grand celebration of music, community, and fun. This performance is the culmination of months of work by the children led by a series of artists to help them create their own local heroic story and accompanying music performance. It will feature children from the primary schools, secondary schools, Kippure Lodge and Slaney Court International Protection Centres in Baltinglass MD.
The project is being presented as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 and is open to all ages for viewing. The children and young people participating have been part of a process led Artistic Residency on the Creative Places Programme which has combined Artistic Direction by Andy Spearpoint (Music), Karen Aguair (Dance and Choreography), Bridget ni Dhuinn (Puppeteer and Artist) as well as local artists Karen Allison, Olha Dekhtiarchuk, Siobhan Madden, Mairead Kelly and Sinead Harte.
