Get creative and explore how art can be used to share ideas, tell stories, and make your voice visible in this hands-on workshop for ages 13–18.
Inspired by the bold, symbolic style of Keith Haring, you will experiment with turning your own thoughts and ideas into eye-catching visual messages. Using simple materials, the session begins with a creative brainstorming phase where you will develop concepts and design your own public poster. From there, you’ll take your ideas outside into the courtyard and beyond, exploring the local built environment. Working across spaces such as alleys, footpaths, and public surfaces, you will begin to think about how art interacts with everyday surroundings and how your work can be seen and experienced in public.
During the workshop, you will:
- Develop your own symbols and visual storytelling ideas
- Create a bold, message-driven poster design
- Explore public art through the local environment
- Experiment with chalk and stencil techniques that you can modify and personalise
If time allows, you’ll extend your designs into outdoor artworks using chalk and stencils, adding your creative voice directly into the space around you.
This workshop is all about trying new ideas, building confidence, and expressing yourself through art in both personal and public ways. No experience is needed, just bring your imagination and be ready to get involved!
