As part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Drogheda Library will host “Mother Nature is for the Birds,” a collaborative art workshop in which young participants design and construct 3D birds from materials such as wire, paper, and recycled materials.
These individual creations will form part of a larger sculptural installation representing Mother Nature, adorned with moss, branches, and a bird’s nest.
The collection of birds created will be in a variety of sizes, shapes, postures, and patterns. Some birds will rest on branches, others will appear suspended in full-flight, while some may sing into Mother Nature’s ear. Other birds will carry twigs and rags in their beaks, maintaining and building their nest, while some gather food to feed themselves or their young.
Together, these elements will create a rich and expressive visual story full of movement, care, and life. The project explores themes of nature, balance, and interconnectedness, highlighting the vital role birds play in sustaining our environment.
Through hands-on making and group collaboration, participants will develop creative skills, confidence, and environmental awareness, while contributing to a meaningful shared artwork that celebrates and promotes care for the natural world.
