Play and Create – 10am

  • Workshop

For Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, Art Room 109 will facilitate a free, interactive, process-based Play and Create sensory art workshop, designed specifically for neurodivergent children and their families. These gentle, small-group experiences will allow children to explore open-ended, sensory-rich art stations at their own pace in a relaxed, child-led environment. 

Caregivers will participate, alongside their children, providing support and ensuring a comfortable, low-pressure experience where creativity can flourish without the pressure of structured instruction or a required end product. 

Key Features of the Workshops: 

  • Small, supportive groups (8–10 children per session, each with a caregiver). 
  • Two 45-minute sessions (10am & 11:30am) at the Kinvara Community Centre
  • Sensory-friendly materials like non-toxic washable finger paints, playdough, and sensory rice, with adaptations for sensory sensitivities. 
  • A calming, welcoming environment that accommodates different sensory needs. 
  • Child-led exploration at open-ended art stations, promoting creativity, self-expression, and emotional regulation. 
  • No formal teaching, allowing children to freely engage with materials in a way that feels natural to them.
