For Cruinniú na nÓg 2026, Art Room 109 will deliver a Play and Create sensory art workshop in Kinvara Community Centre. The workshop will be delivered by a qualified art teacher and experienced facilitator of sensory based, child led creative sessions.
The sessions will provide a calm, welcoming and sensory aware environment where children can explore open ended art stations using materials such as washable paints, playdough, sensory rice and collage. The emphasis is on process over product, allowing children to engage at their own pace without pressure or expectation.
Creativity is central to the project through tactile exploration, imaginative play and decision making. The workshop encourage experimentation, curiosity and self expression while supporting sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.
The impact of the project includes:
• Providing a safe and inclusive creative space for neurodivergent children
• Supporting caregiver child connection through shared creative experiences
• Reducing barriers to arts participation through small group, sensory aware delivery
• Encouraging community connection among families who may otherwise feel isolated
• Building children’s confidence and creative voice in a supportive environment
The workshop are aimed at neurodivergent children aged approximately 3 to 5
