Pouch Making with The School of Irish Archaeology

  • Workshop

Led by The School of Irish Archaeology, this workshop allows children to make their own medieval draw-string pouch. The children learn about the foul process of leather working, from the initial removal of hide, to the preparation of leather in the tanner’s yard, to when it is finally ready for wearing. The gory, mucky details of this process are always a big hit!

Suitable for children aged 5-12 years.

Free event. Places are limited; booking is required. Maximum of 12 children per workshop. Workshops will last for approximately 30 minutes.

*Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the workshop.

*Outdoor event – come prepared for the weather.

Please note: This is a public event and a photographer will be present for many of the activities on June 7th. Attendees will be asked to register for each event and grant consent for photographs to be taken. If you would prefer not to have you or your child’s photograph taken, please make the photographer aware of this.
