Rooted Resilience – Rooted in Art: Drawing Local Plants

  • Workshop

Join us for a drawing workshop focused on the native plants of Dublin. This isn’t just an art class; it’s an exploration of how we relate to the land around us. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by climate anxiety, this workshop offers a space for discussion and creativity. This is a drawing workshop which will blend art and ecology.

By looking to see nature as a series of gifts rather than just resources, we can change how we treat our local ecosystems. Indigenous plants are more than just weeds; they provide medicine and support the local insects and birds that make Dublin their home Learning to identify and draw local plants, often dismissed as weeds, we begin to see their value and beauty. Allowing these plants to thrive in our neighbourhoods supports biodiversity. This can be seen as a quiet form of resistance against ecological loss.

Through the process of drawing, we can ground ourselves in the present moment and cultivate compassion for the non-human members of our community: the urban-adapted wildlife, trees, and insects we live alongside. This will be a relaxing workshop sketching while learning about each plant’s role in local ecology, its history in herbalism, and its place in folklore.
