Offaly Libraries are bringing the magic of Storytime and reading this April to life for children and their families! This annual multi-event festival sees several events planned across the county to enhance creative engagement levels of our youngest library users and introduce them to the joy of reading. This is an ideal opportunity for children to experience reading as an activity which is fun, entertaining and allows families to share this happy time together, especially during the Easter holidays.
Aimed at the library’s youngest patrons and their families, the Spring into Storytime initiative is a creative way in which children’s literacy skills can be developed. Reading with children and access to books has many important long-term benefits. Children who develop an interest in stories and reading have been found to have greater self-esteem and well-being, greater creativity and imagination, better social and health outcomes, and an overall better quality of life as they get older.
Numerous events are happening across the county including Spring-themed crafts and Storytimes, story sessions for classes, competitions, arts and crafts. Contact your local library to find out more.
