St. Anne’s Park Community Archaeology Programme

  • Performance

This project will deliver a community archaeology programme in St Anne’s Park, incorporating a public exhibition at the Rose Festival, a 25-day excavation with educational activities, and post-excavation work involving volunteers.

Led by Dublin City Council’s Heritage, Archaeology, and Parks Divisions in collaboration with private archaeologists and community groups, the initiative promotes inclusion, lifelong learning, and creative engagement with local heritage, particularly through programmes for schools, TY students, and marginalised communities including residents in State accommodation.

By involving the public as co-researchers, storytellers, and guides, the programme challenges traditional heritage management, empowers unheard voices, and helps shape future heritage policy, including its integration into the Dublin City Strategic Heritage Plan 2024–2029.
