Rap is the modern take on a very old tradition that Donegal people have excelled in for generations, storytelling.
In this workshop, young people will exchange stories on social issues that have affected them, or that they are passionate about. With the help of writer Eve and local songwriter/ rap musician CM, young people will write their own rap songs on their chosen social issue stories.
They will be supported in telling their story in a song, coming up with lines that rhyme and getting syllables to line up with music. Through this, they will build their confidence in writing and performing, will improve their vocabulary and maybe even improve their grammar skills!
The young people will be empowered to make their own creative musical decisions and will have the opportunity to perform their song on stage at the end of the workshop.
The song/s written and recorded will be released on social media networks on June 15th.
The workshop will be on 2 consecutive weekday afternoon/early evenings, and will run between 5-8pm. This workshop is best suited to teenagers.
