Why Don’t You Come On Over – Gallery! A gallery talk & workshop with Rita Hynes at Highlanes Gallery

The session aims to empower young people to professionally develop their artistic practice.

An introduction to socially engaged arts practices as Rita Hynes discusses her professional practice and projects in a slide show presentation + Q&A, and practical workshop.

Discussing recent projects including Drogheda Zine Fair, Cailleach Books and The Underground Zine Archive, Rita will explore the theory and practice behind collaborative artmaking, community organising and DIY publishing.

For the second part of this session, participants will have the opportunity to respond to a diverse range of printed materials from The Underground Zine Archive. This hands-on group exercise will allow participants to critically connect and think about socially engaged projects in practice as well as gain new insights from DIY publishing.
