Plein Air Drawing with Connemara Crayons – 11am

  • Workshop

For Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, Connemara Crayons will faciliate a Plein Air drawing activity in Oughterard in one of the parks or in the Clann Community Garden, depending on the weather.

The day will start off with loosening up by ‘wild’, ‘scribbly’ drawings and blind drawings, then the children can walk around and see what draws their attention. This would be a mindful walk. They will then be equipped with a view finder, a clipboard with several pages and a pencil. When they are finished with their findings they will gather back and have a look at the drawings made, to see what jumps out from them.  The children can then make their final drawing with pencil, watercolour paints and collage.

Their final drawing will be scanned and used to print on a poster or board of all the final works created, which can be displayed in a public space.

The activity is aimed at ages 7-14, but older children can sign up too if they are interested.

There will be 2 sessions each lasting 1.5 hours on Saturday the 7th of June.
