Creative Character Cut-Outs (16-17s)

  • Workshop

This is a Slow Art Workshop, the aim of which is to bring teenagers together to give them the opportunity to slow down and express themselves, both creatively and verbally, in an informal setting and to get them thinking about the world around them, in a creative context.

This will be done by facilitating a calm space to create, chat, draw, cut and colour.  We will engage in a collective discussion about the colours we see in the world and how we engage with our peripheral vision.

The creative process in this project is to make individual diverse and funky 3D character faces (30x15cm approx.) by working colour and texture into corrugated cardboard.

The 3D (pop-up) aspect to these creative pieces goes towards giving our visual perception a break from the 2D flat images that we have grown accustomed to in today’s digital world. Participants will be guided to create slowly and leisurely, and to use their own and other participants ‘cut-out shapes’, as inspiration for their pieces.

This session is aimed at 16-17 year olds and will run from 3 pm to 5:30 pm
