Traditional Braiding and Its Origin Workshop

The ‘Traditional Braiding and Its Origin’ workshop will be hands-on braiding workshop that is open to all ages, backgrounds and abilities. 

No prior experience is required! 

Participants will learn the cultural significance of various African braiding styles, while exploring the roots, symbolism and evolution across generations. In the workshop, techniques will be shared on how to three-strand braid, twist and possibly cornrow. This workshop serves as an artistic expression, providing a medium for storytelling, connection, belonging and identity.
