Ceramics Workshop (2pm to 4 pm)

  • Workshop

For Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, Brú Bhríde will host local artist, Martina Passman, who will provide workshops in ceramics.

The process will begin with an introduction to ceramic techniques, where participants will learn the basics of shaping and moulding clay, to create individual pieces. For many of the young members, this will be their first experience working with clay, and Martina has thoughtfully designed the project to be accessible for all skill levels.

To make the experience more approachable, participants will be given the option to choose from a variety of templates, which will guide them as they create their ceramic pieces. These templates, thoughtfully selected to cater for a range of abilities, will provide a structure for those who may not have worked with clay before, allowing them to follow a simple design, while still expressing their personal creativity. Whether it’s a small bowl, a decorative tile, or a figurine, the templates will help participants focus on the process and feel confident as they shape their pieces. For those who are more experienced or wish to explore their creativity further, Martina will offer guidance and flexibility, encouraging each participant to add their own unique flair to their work.

Once the clay pieces are shaped, they will be fired in a kiln, an exciting process that will transform them into durable ceramic art.
