Run away to the circus (for an hour) with Doulab for Circus and Dance and a group of talented young circus artists as they introduce you to the world of circus!
Developed by a group of young budding circus artists, along with Doulab for Circus and Dance, this workshop has emerged from a youth-led project consisting of 12 days of in-person engagement over a 10 week period. Doulab immersed 2 groups of young people in the dynamic world of contemporary circus arts, culminating in a special event curated by the young people for Cruinniú na nÓg.
Over the course of the project, participants have explored various circus disciplines, such as juggling, manipulation, group, solo & duo acrobatics, balance (tightwire, unicycle, stilts etc.). For Cruinniú na nÓg day, the groups decided to present 2 public peer-peer workshops, the entire content of which they will develop with the support of the artist facilitators. This project’s focus is on giving the young people the tools and confidence to express and create and to support them in their decisions and natural creativity.
During the project, there were also opportunities for the young people to begin to create their own work in small groups or on their own, which has developed their potential to use the skills they are learning in a creative context. In addition, the young people may present parts of their creations seamlessly at different moments during the public workshop.
Pre-booking here is essential as places are limited.
