Carlow Local Ambassador – Teegan Noelle Keogh Gorry

  • Programme of events

My name is Teegan, I’m 18 years old. I love to perform in whatever way that may be like debates, acting even circus style performances. I also love to draw and paint, in 2021 I painted a mural on a wall in my local town.

My earliest memory of creativity is a simple one, it’s of me lying on my sitting room floor with my older brother attempting to draw Pokémon. He loved video games, and I loved drawing, so it really gave us something to connect over, and brought us even closer than we already were.

I began my favourite activity back in 2023 by starring in the local short film “Rubbish” with the help of Take a Part Carlow. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but it’s safe to say that really sparked an interest I didn’t know I had yet, I’m forever grateful.

When I’m being creative, I feel free, like nothing can ever touch me. I feel connected to the world around me and everything in it.

My advice to other young people is just do it. Do it scared, do it embarrassed, do it nervous. Everyone feels the same way at first, but you’ll learn to love it.

My creative heroes are all the young people my age who took part in the workshops and performances with me. They motivated me through their courage to push forward through all the nerves and anxieties.

Creativity is connection, it allows us all to come together to create something universally beautiful.

The best thing about Cruinniú na nÓg around the country is that it provides opportunities for young people they might not have ever had, especially in smaller counties.
