Animal Worlds in Clay is a free, hands-on ceramics workshop for children (ages 8–12) and young people (ages 13–18). It takes place on Saturday, 6 June 2026 at Boomerang Youth Centre & Café, Drogheda, as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. Led by Gato Thor Ceramica, this creative workshop invites participants to design and sculpt an animal, real or imagined, along with its environment or habitat.
Through guided exploration of form, texture and colour using engobes, participants learn foundational sculptural techniques while using storytelling and imagination to shape their own unique piece. Each workshop is highly participatory and encourages individual expression. A short, supportive group sharing at the end gives everyone a chance to present their work and reflect on their creative choices.
All materials are provided. Finished pieces will be fired and glazed, and can be collected 3 to 4 weeks after the workshop.
