Cruinniú na nÓg at Carnival of Science, Fitzgerald’s Park

Design a space for nature, create a place for plankton, and imagine what it means to be part of a thriving multi‑species community.

These hands‑on STEAM workshops are inspired by Tools of the Trade, a collaborative art project which brings together art, science, research, and creative enquiry. Through playful making and creative thinking, children are invited to explore big ideas about ecology, interconnected systems, and the often‑unseen life that supports our planet.

Taking place as part of the Carnival of Science in Fitzgeralds Park, the workshops will encourage curiosity, experimentation, and imagination. Participants will get involved in creative activities that blend visual art, science, and design. All you need is a willingness to explore and invent!

The workshops are inspired by artworks created by 4th Class pupils from South Lee Educate Together School and Scoil Maria Assumpta, whose work will be exhibited in the Tools of the Trade Exhibition 2026 at Cork City Hall Atrium (open weekdays from 2–12 June). While the exhibition will not be open on the day, its themes and ideas come alive through these interactive park‑based sessions.

Drop in, get creative, and discover how art and science can help us re‑imagine our relationship with the natural world!
