Morse Code & Marconi

  • Workshop

For Cruinniú na nÓg this year, Connemara Coding Club will host a session where you can learn how to send messages using Morse Code!

The event will celebrate Marconi, who sent the first radio signals working in an office just a couple of hundred meters from where we run our coding club, right here in Connemara.

After a brief talk by a local historian and a demonstration of the project, kids can code microbits to send morse code to each other similar to how Marconi’s work was used in WW2. The sessions will end with a fun competition where codes are sent to each other and the other teams have to solve the code to reveal various words.

This is a workshop for all ages and parents are asked to stay with their children. There will be two sessions in the day, each running for 3 hours – more details to follow!
