Cois na Farraige

  • Workshop

Use sand, shells, seaweed, and driftwood to create temporary art installations. This encourages imagination and environmental awareness. Children and young people are invited to explore their creativity using natural materials found along the shoreline, such as sand, shells, seaweed, and driftwood. Working individually or in small groups, participants design and build temporary art installations directly on the beach—ranging from patterns and mandalas to imaginative sculptures and storytelling scenes.

This hands-on activity encourages creative expression while deepening participants’ connection to the coastal environment. As they gather and arrange materials, they develop an appreciation for the textures, colours, and natural beauty of the ocean’s resources. The temporary nature of the artwork also introduces the idea of impermanence, as tides and weather gradually return the materials to the sea.

Through play, collaboration, and exploration, participants build confidence, problem-solving skills, and environmental awareness—learning to respect and care for the natural world while expressing their unique ideas.
