Kilkenny’s Global Dance Club is back after a successful 2025 project, supported by Creative Ireland. The Global Dance Club is a vibrant new dance initiative led by members of Kilkenny’s international protection community. The programme celebrates global cultures through movement, fostering creativity, connection, and intercultural exchange.
Over 6 months, participants will explore a rich mix of dance styles—including Irish, Afrobeats, Salsa, Somali Dhaanto, Bollywood, Jive, Samba and Traditional Ukrainian Dance, to name but a few —all building toward various collaborative performances in 2026. The programme also offers mentorship to emerging lead dancers, supporting both artistic growth and organisational skills, and laying foundations for a sustainable, inclusive dance studio in Kilkenny.
Empowering underrepresented voices, nurturing creative leadership, and using dance as a joyful catalyst for integration, The Global Dance Club strengthens visibility, confidence, and community cohesion. This pilot will build momentum toward a flagship performance in the 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Africa Day and World Refugee Day, showcasing the power of dance to unite and inspire.
