Keadue Biodiversity / Sustainability Awareness project

  • Reading

The combined skills of renowned visual artist Laura McMorrow and experienced local ecologist Yosef Dvores will bring together art and environment to showcase climate action in the local area. Yosef will focus on delivering Invasive Alien Species workshops and Laura will focus on creating a community led Climate Action Map to showcase biodiversity and sustainability action.

Invasive Alien Species (IAS) are the second leading cause of biodiversity loss globally and cost millions to the Irish economy. As biodiversity is our biggest ally in combating climate change, managing IAS not only helps fight against the biodiversity crisis, but also the climate crisis as well. Yosef has delivered many popular IAS workshops to community groups across Ireland. The place based learning teaches participants about the threats of IAS, how to identify them, how to report them and how to manage them properly. While focusing on the actions we need to take for a better tomorrow, we must also acknowledge the fantastic steps we have already taken towards a cleaner, greener future.

Therefore, this project will create an illustrated climate action map created in consultation with the community. The artistic map will be made in conjunction with input from a wide range of community members and groups. The map will be a symbol of hope and celebration for the town, whilst also being a reminder that we all play an important role that we all play an important role in taking care of our local areas.
