The Sound Garden: A Creative Music & Sensory Journey for Little Ones

  • Workshop

Sound Stories is a gentle, joyful music and sensory arts experience for babies and young children aged 0-6 with additional needs, and their carers. The workshop creates a calm, playful space where children can explore sounds, rhythms, movement and colourful materials through curiosity, imagination and shared creative play.

Children are invited to drum, sing, shake, tap and move, experimenting with a wide range of tuned and untuned percussion and simple handmade instruments. Through music-making and collaborative sound storytelling, every session is led by the children’s interests, allowing them to take part in ways that feel comfortable and exciting for them.

Delivered in partnership with the Extra Special Parent & Toddler Group, this project celebrates an inclusive, supportive community for families of children with Down syndrome across the region. The programme is closed to the wider public and is specially designed for this group, their children and caregivers.

Led by musician and creative facilitator Kristina Baker Kenny, Sound Stories is all about fun, connection and celebrating every child as a valued and creative part of the group.
