Monaghan County Council Launches Exciting Programme of Events for Cruinniú na nÓg 2025

Children and young people across Co. Monaghan are preparing for Cruinniú na nÓg 2025! Cruinniú na nÓg is Ireland’s ‘National Day of Creativity’ for children and young people under 18. This flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan has been a source of inspiration since its inception in 2018. This year, Monaghan County Council are delighted to support a jam-packed programme spanning the length and breadth of the County and beyond! 

Cruinniú na nÓg will take place on Saturday, 7th June with a variety of free events happening across the County. These will take place on, and in the run up to the day, and will include, arts and crafts workshops, circus skills workshops, theatre performances, drama workshops, dance performance and art exhibitions.  

A flagship ‘Cruinniú Creative Day’ Event for families will take place in Monaghan Peace Campus on Saturday, 7th June from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event offers a diverse range of free creative workshops and activities for children and young people including an Irish language storytelling sessions, performances and workshops by Circus 250, nature jewellery workshops, sensory room, storyboarding workshops and much more. Creative Day at Monaghan Peace Campus is free event; workshops are ‘drop in’ and no booking is required.  

In addition to once off events, Monaghan County Council, engaged creative practitioners to deliver Cruinniú projects offering creative programmes to children and young people over the course of several weeks. These included a 6-week ‘Creative Thinking for Schools’ programme delivered in 2 schools, ‘The Glow Girls’ programme for young girls, a spoons and body percussion project, art projects and a filmmaking programme.  

With the support of the Cruinniú Shared Island Fund Monaghan County Council supported a 3-day filmmaking project with 16 young people from Monaghan and Fermanagh. Two short films made by the participants will be premiered at the Cruinniú Day event in Monaghan Peace Campus.
