Roscommon Gears Up for an Unforgettable Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 Celebration of Youthful Creativity

Get ready for a day of magic, music, creativity and connection as Cruinniú na nÓg returns to Roscommon on Saturday, June 7th, offering a packed programme of free, creative events for young people across the county. 

Organised as part of the national Cruinniú na nÓg initiative – Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people – Roscommon’s 2025 programme is brimming with interactive workshops, outdoor performances, art installations and showcases of young local talent. 

Highlights include: 

🎉 Funfest – Creativity at Play (Strokestown Park House & Gardens, 12pm–5pm) 
An immersive wonderland for ages 0–10 featuring dance parties, magic shows with RTE Jr’s Joe the Magician, storytelling, Lego workshops, science, sports, circus acts, face-painting and more. 

🎭 Ballaghaderreen Foróige Showcase (Phoenix Centre, 11am–1pm) 
Celebrate the imagination of Ballaghaderreen’s young creative minds in this vibrant showcase of activities they have been enjoying. 

🎼 Song Tales Sa Spéir (Roscommon Arts Centre, Outdoor, 2pm–2.45pm) 
A musical storytelling experience for ages 4–8 – no booking required. 

🛠️ Basking Workshop with Tom Meskell 
Create illuminated sea life sculptures with artist Tom Meskell at the Arts Centre – a magical hands-on session for budding artists. 

🎨 Workshops for All Interests 
From cyanotype printing and clay sculpting to coding with Lego, nature crafts, paper sculpture making and poetry with Mary Branley – there’s something for every curious mind aged 0 to 18. 

🎤 Cruinniú Late Events 
Teens can get creative at Laugh Out Loud, a comedy workshop at King House, or take part in global storytelling and art at Global Neighbours in Castlerea. Don’t miss the Making Myths & Shadows theatre project performance at the Percy French Hotel.
