Crafting Traditions – Children’s Workshop is a creative, hands‑on learning experience delivered as part of the Kingdom of Skills during Architecture Kerry Week at Muckross Traditional Farms. The project introduces children and families to traditional craft skills that are closely connected to Kerry’s architectural, cultural, and environmental heritage.
Led by experienced craft practitioners, the workshops will focus on traditional skills such as stained glass and basket making etc. Young participants will take part in live demonstrations and supervised making sessions, allowing them to explore materials, learn techniques, and understand how everyday objects were traditionally created using locally sourced and sustainable materials.
The workshops are designed to be welcoming, playful, and inclusive, encouraging children to ask questions, experiment creatively, and build confidence through making. Families and visitors to Muckross Traditional Farms will be invited to observe and engage with the workshops, creating shared learning experiences across generations in a unique heritage setting.
The project aims to nurture creativity in young people, raise awareness of traditional craftsmanship, and foster appreciation for sustainable making practices.
