Clonmel Applefest is delighted to animate Friary Car Park with a vibrant, youth-led day of creativity. Working in collaboration with locally based youth arts organisations, the event transforms the space into a dynamic hub from 1–4pm for children and 4–8pm for older youth, creating a fully immersive, public-facing youth arts experience.
The afternoon session bursts into life with Beehouse Arts, who will bring two groups of children together to reclaim the space through a playful, site-responsive exhibition. Using Cori boards wrapped around pillars and walls, the installation showcases artwork created over recent months of workshops, with Beehouse Arts curating the exhibition and hosting a hands-on public response table filled with paints and creative materials.
Making full use of the scale and energy of the venue, artist Elke Wilson will lead a cardboard cut‑out workshop, inviting clusters of children to construct bold, oversized butterfly forms. A lively movement corner led by Brazilian artist Karen Aguiar will animate the space throughout the afternoon, with costumes, short performances and pop‑up dance flash mobs creating moments of surprise and disruption — spilling from stage to floor and reflecting the rich mix of dance styles and local talent featured last year.
