Relaxed visit: My Father’s Dragon 9:15am

  • Exhibition

Step into a world of hand drawn animation and get a sneak peak of the work involved in creating My Father’s Dragon. A collaboration between the Butler Gallery and five-time Oscar nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon, this exhibition experience explores the animated world of the film My Father’s Dragon, directed by Nora Twomey. During this relaxed visit time, there will be reduced numbers of visitors and no audio playing in the exhibition.

The film is based on a beloved children’s novel by Ruth Stilies Gannett. My Father’s Dragon is a tale of a curious boy, Elmer, who ventures from home to a fantastical land where he rescues a dragon, Boris. And how they become best friends.

As you wander through the exhibition, you’ll see original art, core working drawings and backgrounds from the film, and learn some of the ways the animators used to bring the story of My Father’s Dragon to life.
